When Mother’s Day rolls around each year, many people make the mistake of getting their mothers something “useful.” Things falling into this category include vacuum cleaners, mixers, pots and pans, and other things along this line.
Keep in mind, this year, when you shop for your mother on her special day that she just MIGHT enjoy a gift that pampers her. Get her something she would never buy for herself but would love to have. If you’re stuck for ideas, try one of the following:
1. A Day at the Spa: If your mother has always expressed an interest at spending the day being waited on hand and foot while also being pampered, a day at the spa may be just what the doctor ordered. These can be purchased in several ways. You can get a gift certificate for an afternoon, a full day, or even a spa weekend. This can be something she will remember for the rest of her life.
2. Take her Shopping: Sometimes all mothers really want is some quality time with their kids, and you’ll still be her baby whether you’re 4 or 40. So take her out for the day. Start by buying her breakfast and move on to some serious shopping. Or play tourist in your home town.
Relax for lunch and continue your itinerary. Round out the day with dinner at her favorite restaurant. It’s a full day and totally your treat. She’ll love you for it.
3. Specialty Bouquets: Not all bouquets must be made from flowers. Take something that you know your mother REALLY loves and/or wants, and turn it into the bouquet of her dreams. For example, if she’s a reader, take 5 or 10 of the books you know she wants to read and make a “bouquet” of them.
It may take a basket to do this but then you can always add her favorite blend of coffee or tea to it. You can also do this with DVDs. Be creative. Anything that will fit into a container of some sort can be turned into a bouquet.
